Actor Refutes Anti-Vaccine Views After Narrating Disputed Coronavirus Film
The "Taken" star has provided his voice to a feature-length documentary that casts doubt on the efficacy of vaccines and praises former health official RFK Jr.
The Documentary's Provocative Basis
Named "Plague of Corruption," the film is adapted from a well-known publication published by a controversial scientist, who became famous during the health crisis for claims that Covid was linked to a bad strain of the flu vaccine.
The book's collaborator, the executive producer, has penned books with far-right media personality a known commentator. Heckenlively took to social media celebrating Neeson's involvement in the project.
An Unequivocal Rebuttal
The team of Neeson have provided a comment strongly denying claims that he subscribes to anti-immunization sentiments.
"Many understand that corruption can exist within the drug industry, but that should never be confused with rejection of vaccines," the comment states. "Neeson never has been, and remains not, against vaccines. His considerable work with Unicef underscores his enduring support for public-health initiatives."
It added that the actor was not involved in crafting the documentary's narrative and that inquiries about its content should be directed to the creators.
Major Themes Featured in the Feature
In the film, the narration spoken by Neeson features several controversial statements:
- It suggests that pro-vaccine voices have demanded "blind obedience" to government bodies.
- It declares that "medical science has become deeply politicized."
- Robert F Kennedy Jr is interviewed saying, "The core flaw with vaccines is that they just aren't properly vetted."
- It takes aim at Covid lockdowns, arguing they caused psychological harm that resulted in thousands of lives.
- Regarding Covid vaccines, it cites a report that they were "hurriedly approved" and seen as "hazardous tests."
Previous Background and Recent Debates
The film also references a historical film about AIDS medication trials on children, which was afterwards the topic of a correction by the network for violations of guidelines.
Recently, the political figure directed the national health agency to change its long-held position that there is no connection between vaccines and autism spectrum disorder. This assertion is also referenced in the film, despite a fresh analysis from the World Health Organisation stating no connection has been found.
A Past Statement of Support
Contrasting the film's narrative, Neeson has formerly shown strong support for vaccines in his role as a charity ambassador.
Previously, he called vaccines as "an incredible achievement," noting that "The conversation about vaccines in the past few years has lost sight of how much benefit they have done... It is perhaps one of the biggest shared accomplishments in human history."
"Plague of Corruption" concludes with Neeson's narration saying, "This marks not the conclusion of our narrative. Rather, it is the beginning of a different phase."
