Emma Raducanu in action during a tennis match

Emma Raducanu made it to the third stage in three out of four major tournaments in the current campaign.

The British tennis star Emma Raducanu has pulled out of the last two tournaments in 2025 as a result of the illness that has affected her in recent days.

Raducanu, aged 22 was scheduled to compete in events in Asia but has decided to fly home to rest and recuperate before starting next year's training.

Those preparations will involve her coach Francisco Roig, as they have decided to continue collaborating for the upcoming season.

She had her blood pressure taken while playing the initial match against Ann Li in the Wuhan tournament and retired when behind 6-1 4-1 on a day with extreme humidity.

Another medical visit was necessary a doctor's assessment at the recent Ningbo Open, where she was defeated in three sets to local wildcard Zhu Lin in the first round.

Raducanu was also moving noticeably restricted in the final set versus Zhu because of the lower back problem that has been a concern during parts of the season.

Those results followed a positive campaign, in which the player advanced into the world's top 30 after a long gap since her previous ranking, concluded with three straight losses.

Raducanu had three match points before losing to Jessica Pegula in the third round in last month's Beijing event.

The player achieved twenty-eight matches during 2025 and reached the semi-finals in Washington, but the highlight of her season was at the Miami event in March.

The British number one made the last eight of this WTA 1000 tournament, beating eighth seed Emma Navarro during the tournament before losing in three sets to fourth-ranked Pegula.

She worked with trainer Mark Petchey between Miami and Wimbledon, with Roig assuming the role for the US Open.

The first plan with the ex-coach of Rafael Nadal was through the season's conclusion but the partnership will continue, with a training block pencilled in late this year.

Raducanu told that her three-day trial with Roig post-Wimbledon was like a "secret mission" as they aimed to maintain secrecy.

She nearly succeeded to overcoming Sabalenka, the world number one at the first competition with Roig in Cincinnati in August.

Roig joined her in New York, where she reached the third round before being beaten by Elena Rybakina, the 2022 Wimbledon winner.
