Law enforcement officials announced on Monday that they had managed to foil a detailed plot to detonate IEDs at several facilities run by two corporate businesses on New Year's Eve in the southern part of the state. The operation followed the apprehension of people part of an radical group advocating for anti-system and anti-authority ideologies.

Individuals Detained During Isolated Rehearsal

Four individuals were taken into custody last Friday in the remote area located east of Los Angeles as they were allegedly rehearsing their intended attack. Prosecutors showed aerial monitoring images to the media, which depicted the suspects carrying a big obscure device to a table. Officials noted that the detainments were made ahead of the individuals could construct a working IED.

Names of the Accused Released

As per the submitted court documents, the four people listed are Audrey Illeene Carroll, 30; Zachary Aaron Page, 32 years old; 24-year-old Dante Gaffield; and Lai, 41. The group are understood to be from the greater Los Angeles vicinity.

Although officials did not explicitly outline a reason, they indicated the group are adherents of a faction dubbed the Turtle Island Liberation Front. This organization according to documents calls for "laborers to rebel and combat against corporate power," according to the criminal complaint.

Each suspect is charged with include conspiracy and having a explosive. The government stated that more counts are expected in the weeks ahead.

Details of the Reported "Midnight Sun Operation"

Officials revealed that one of the suspects had created a detailed scheme last month to bomb at least five commercial sites across Southern California on New Year's Eve. The locations were characterized as "similar to Amazon" logistical hubs.

"The plan was explicit," a prosecutor stated. "It contained step-by-step instructions to make bombs … and identified multiple sites across the county of Orange and Los Angeles."

Based on the probe and the complaint, the plan involved positioning bags containing sophisticated pipe bombs that were planned to be detonated at the same time at midnight on New Year's Eve at 5 places. New Year's Eve was chosen as an opportune time as the document indicated "fireworks will be going off at this time so blast noises will be less likely to be noticed."

The eight-page handwritten plan, called "OPERATION MIDNIGHT SUN," stated that additional sites could be added. The locations were identified as property and buildings owned by two distinct corporations connected with business involving interstate and foreign commerce.

Additional Schemes and Evidence Seized

Court documents also revealed that two individuals in the faction had talked about future strikes focusing on immigration enforcement agents and cars with IEDs in 2026. One accused reportedly said that such attacks "would eliminate some and scare the rest of them."

These plans were allegedly talked over both at an in-person gathering in Los Angeles and through an private messaging app.

Pictures featured in the legal filings depict a desert campsite with what investigators said were IED-construction components strewn across portable tables.

The filing states that the suspects "carried bomb-making components to the campsite, among them assorted sizes of plastic pipes, suspected an oxidizer, charcoal, charcoal powder, another chemical, and components to be used as igniters, along with other items."

Instructions also included directions on how to build the devices and how to prevent leaving forensic clues that could be linked back to the group. The individuals had in the recent past obtained precursor chemicals and other items, with buys from major websites.

Operation and Follow-up

Federal agents took action last week when the group were running through the strike in the remote area near Twentynine Palms. "They owned all the components they required to construct an working explosive device at that place," an official stated.

In the course of carried out searches, investigators reportedly located signs for the Turtle Island Liberation Front at one accused's dwelling that advocated "America Must Fall", and "Death to ICE". At another accused's apartment, police found a version of the detailed explosives scheme.

Those arrested were detained peacefully. They were scheduled to appear in court in Los Angeles on Monday afternoon.
