Football Expert Sutton Battles Artist Olly Murs in Premier League Predictions

Arsenal's ten-match winning streak was ended by Sunderland before the global hiatus, however can the Premier League frontrunners bounce back against local foes Spurs this Sunday?

"{I believe like Arsenal are miles ahead of Tottenham at the moment but Spurs manager Thomas Frank will have a plan for this match," remarked football expert Chris Sutton.

"The Spurs manager will try to neutralize Arsenal, who have not always been at their sparkling best this season - but Mikel Arteta's team typically still find a way to win."

The analyst is forecasting results for all 380 Premier League games this term, against artificial intelligence, readers and a range of special visitors.

For week 12, he faces performer Olly Murs, who is a United fan.

Murs' latest album, the new release, is out on Friday.

Soccer and Parenting Experiences

Murs is a talented soccer player as well as a accomplished artist and has been a star of several charity football games down the years - but he is not planning a serious return as a player.

"{I recently played in a charity game the other night for a friend of mine," he said. "The side was losing 3-1 when I was substituted in the 60th minute, and they went on to win 4-3, so you can interpret that what you will!

"I continue to love football, but I injured my joint a few years ago and it even now isn't where I want it to be. I wish I could play more but the uncertainty of the game means it's too dangerous for me in my career to do it properly again.

"Plus I am forty-one now, and we are not everyone is Cristiano Ronaldo, are we!? No, I am very content not playing football and I am gearing up for the time that my daughter or son decides to play instead."

The singer and his spouse Amelia Tank have a young family, their daughter and Albert, and he is prepared to follow in his father's footsteps by taking on the role of their manager.

"I will not force football on our children but I've already told Amelia that if they do get the passion for it then I will have to go and get my coaching badges - and I will likely be coaching their weekend football side," he added.

"I watched my nephews play a lot, and I really got into it, and I obviously was involved with a football club for a period too.

"My dad coached with us when I was a kid, which is likely where I inherited it. He managed our side for two or three years and had a wonderful time with it. That might be the next step for me as well, and I am excited to it!"

Top Division Predictions

Weekend, 22 November

  • Turf Moor, 12:30 GMT

Chelsea might have to be patient for Cole Palmer's comeback from fitness issues but their attack is already more potent with Joao Pedro and Liam Delap both back fit.

In my opinion this game will be quite tight, though. The Clarets are disciplined and their sole home defeats so far have been against Liverpool and the Gunners.

It smells of a 1-1 tie to me, but I am in fact going to go with Chelsea to edge it for what would be their third league win in a row.

The expert's forecast: 1-2

Olly's prediction: The Blues will be too strong. 1-3

Artificial intelligence's prediction: 0-2

  • Vitality Stadium, 15:00 GMT

Bournemouth have been defeated in their past two matches - although both of them were away - but they got absolutely spanked by Villa last time out which shocked me.

On the other hand, West Ham secured two in a row before the hiatus and, although both of those games were at home, they appear competitive again.

West Ham's only away win this campaign came at Nottingham Forest in the summer, when West Ham manager Nuno was still Forest manager.

Therefore, what exactly do I predict here - can West Ham continuing their run under Nuno, or Bournemouth responding?

I will go with the Cherries, because I believe what occurred against Aston Villa was a blip.

Sutton's forecast: 2-0

Olly's prediction: The home team are performing strongly but West Ham have picked up under Nuno. 2-2

AI's prediction: 1-1

  • Amex Stadium, 15:00 GMT

Brentford were seen as one of the frontrunners for the drop before the season started, but they have impressed a few observers under their manager and are in good form with three in their past four matches.

My son told me to select Brentford forward Igor Thiago in my fantasy soccer squad a few weeks back and, unfortunately, I didn't listen.

The forward will likely score again on the weekend but I am still not going to pick him or back the away side at Amex Stadium.

They have not had much fortune on the travel this season, and Brighton are always strong at home. Brentford will attempt to attack on the counter-attack but I feel Fabian Hurzeler's team pose much more of a danger.

Sutton's forecast: 2-1

The singer's prediction: This could be a match where you expect there is going to be a lot of goals but it in reality proves to be quite tight. 1-1

The computer's outcome: 2-1

  • Craven Cottage, 15:00 GMT

This is a massive fixture for the Cottagers, who have lost five of their past six games.

They have have plenty of talent in their squad but it nonetheless feels like they could be sucked into a drop zone fight.

Regarding Sunderland, indeed they are the surprise package of the Premier League campaign so far.

The away side's performance in the two-all tie with Arsenal last time out was excellent. We have not witnessed any other team disrupt the Gunners like that this season, and they were fully competitive for them.

The logical choice to do to support the visitors here, because they are obviously capable of disrupting the hosts up too and, the last time they were in this part of London, they defeated Chelsea at the close of last month.

However I am not going to choose that. Rather, I truly need to continue opposing Sunderland with my predictions. I am taking a lot of credit for their good outcomes because they evidently love to defy my predictions.

Looking at Fulham's home record, the sole side they have been defeated by is the league leaders. Marco Silva's side will be absolutely eager for a positive outcome, so I am going to predict they will secure three much-needed points.

Sutton's prediction: 1-0

Olly's choice: I'm aware the visitors are performing strongly and also that Fulham are on a bad streak... but they have nonetheless been decent at Craven Cottage this season. 2-0

The algorithm's prediction: 2-0

  • Anfield, 15:00 GMT

It is a hard fixture to call. Liverpool have suffered seven of their last ten games in all competitions, but might they be among the sides who benefit from the {international break|
