Powerful cold-season winds caused walls to collapse upon flimsy shelters sheltering people uprooted by war in Gaza, claiming the lives of at least four individuals. Ceasefire Provides No Respite from Severe Elements

Although a ceasefire has been in effect since last fall, aid groups state that Palestinians broadly lack the sufficient shelter necessary to withstand recurring cold-weather events.

Officials at Shifa hospital, which received the bodies, reported on this week that the dead include a pair of adult females, a girl, and a male adult.

In a separate incident, the local health authority announced on the same day that a 12-month-old infant died of hypothermia overnight.

"International actors has enabled us to witness death in every possible way," stated Bassel Hamouda after the funeral. "While it is correct the bombing may have paused for now, but we have witnessed all imaginable reasons of death in the world in the Gaza Strip."

Relatives Crushed in Shelter Collapse

According to the medical center, 3 members of a single household — 72-year-old a man, his 15-year-old relative, and his daughter-in-law — were fatally injured when an eight-metre tall wall collapsed on top of their dwelling in a area near the sea of the city. At least five others were injured in the incident.

"Although 'explosions and shootings have slowed' under the ceasefire, they have not ceased," the spokesperson informed journalists at a UN briefing in Geneva by video from the Strip. "Therefore what the international community now terms calm would be viewed as a catastrophe anywhere else," he said.

Third Winter of Struggle
