New information has come to light about the shocking demises of acclaimed director Rob Reiner and artist Michele Singer Reiner, whose bodies were located at their Brentwood, Los Angeles property on Sunday.

A Initial Report

According to a report referencing a confidential source, a therapist arriving for an appointment initially became concerned after being unable to gain access the house. The practitioner then contacted the couple's daughter, Romy Reiner, who lives close by.

Upon entering the home, Romy discovered her father's body. Reports state she then fled the house in anguish, unaware at that moment that her mother's body was also inside. Another individual who had gone with her contacted 911. Following this, emergency responders discovered Michele Singer Reiner's body.

Legal Charges

Law enforcement have charged the couple's 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, with the charges of murder in the first degree, as well as the charge related to a weapon, reportedly a knife. He is now detained and is ineligible for bail.

Clarifications

The confidential informant challenged several previously reported details. The source indicated that while Romy Reiner told emergency responders that her brother Nick lived in a guesthouse on the grounds, she did not name him as a potential suspect at that juncture.

Furthermore disputed published suggestions that Rob and Michele Singer Reiner had been especially "apprehensive" about Nick's conduct in the weeks leading up to the incident. The source claimed the family was "accustomed to working through [Nick's] problems together."

Investigation Details

According to law enforcement officials, the coroner had not yet established at that point whether the Reiners died late on Saturday or on Sunday. Some accounts suggested the state of their bodies suggested they had been deceased for a period of time.

Nick Reiner was apprehended at around 9:30 p.m. on Sunday in the neighbourhood of Exposition Park, about 15 miles from the scene. He was due to appear in court on Tuesday, but his attorney, Alan Jackson, said his client had not been medically cleared and would not be present until Wednesday or later.
