The Red Devils Poised to Secure German Forward Lea Schüller away from Bayern Munich
The Women's Super League club are finalising sealing the deal for prolific Germany striker Lea Schüller on a permanent transfer away from Bayern Munich.
A Major Acquisition for United
Schüller, who has six months left on her deal, has been a consistent goalscorer for her club and the national team. She has scored more than 100 goals for the German giants and scored 54 times in 82 appearances for her country. Her arrival will be seen as a major signing for the WSL team.
Departure from Munich has been anticipated after she was seen holding back emotions while applauding the club's supporters after a win over Bayer Leverkusen recently.
It was reported in December that the German women's top flight was set to lose one of its leading forwards. According to multiple sources, the formalities for the transfer are now finalised.
Consistent Goal Threat to Boost United's Attack
The 28-year-old’s arrival is expected to provide a significant uplift to United’s attacking options. She has been highly reliable with her finishing in the Bundesliga.
- Over seven consecutive seasons, including the last term, she reached at least a double-digit tally of league goals.
- She claimed the Golden Boot in 2021-22 season with a haul of 16 goals.

The acquisition of Schüller’s signature comes at a time when the club seem to be building positive momentum.
Their recent on-pitch successes feature qualifying for the European knockout phase playoffs as a seeded team and a win in the League Cup quarter-finals.

Regarding the midfielder's new deal, a club official stated: “Miyazawa is now a critical part to the way we play. Her footballing intelligence and technical ability enables her and the team to dominate play from central areas.”
The new defender, having joined from a side from the NWSL, added: “You can feel how much they [United] have grown in the last few years, competing in one of the most competitive leagues in the world and performing in the top European competition.”
