The Reform UK leader Accuses Educators of ‘Indoctrinating Children’ on Racial Topics

Nigel Farage has asserted that teachers would go on strike shortly after a Reform UK election victory, accusing them of “poisoning our kids” by instructing children that black pupils are victims and Caucasian students are perpetrators.

At a gathering for a private US Christian college, the politician expressed his perspective on British schools, stating that the “Marxist left” had “taken over schooling”.

“I’m anticipating a teachers’ strike very quickly after securing a victory,” Farage commented in response to questions.

“They are corrupting young minds. They are telling them to feel guilt about their nation. They inform an eight-year-old black child that he is oppressed and a white child of the same age that he is an oppressor. They create division, not uniting us. They are feeding this harmful mindset.”

In response to these assertions, the head of a major education union rejected the idea that the schools were under Marxist influence as “absurd”. He pointed out that any strikes must relate to educators’ working conditions, and questioned whether the party would target these right after taking office.

“Farage has built his public life on coded rhetoric and currently, similar to other figures, he is targeting educators and their organizations for a conflict,” the union leader said.

“I think that’s grossly irresponsible. I don’t – and nor does my union – push critical race theory as he’s suggesting … Should he become prime minister he would undermine state services, including education … and he would be a disaster for education and children.”

The party, which tops surveys by about 10 points, has not set out much detail on its educational plans and seems not to have designated an education lead.

However, his comments indicated the group would reform the system and the curriculum. Farage declared: “We have got a massive job with schooling – absolutely herculean. And, it won’t happen quickly; it will take us years, a long-term effort to reform.”

Farage expressed that gen Z was more open to analytical thought, but older youth were “completely lost”.

Paying tribute to Charlie Kirk, Farage said: “All I want education to do to teach critical thinking – to educate individuals that there are two points of view and you make up your own mind rather than what’s happening now where views are labeled good or bad. This is a huge undertaking in the UK and US.”

Reform has previously clashed with the UK’s largest teaching union, after Kebede called the party “far right and racist” and described the leader as “a poundshop Donald Trump”.

The politician has charged Kebede of being “a self-declared Marxist” … someone who is absolutely determined that our children should be poisoned through education, their minds should be poisoned about everything to do with this country” and maintained that the organization seeks to brainwash youth opposed to his party.

Roughly a million individuals are employed in education in the UK, about half of whom are teachers and the others teaching assistants and support staff. The major education union has about 450,000 members.

National strikes over teacher pay and conditions in 2023 caused widespread disruption in educational institutions and extensive missed instruction for children.

During the American gathering, Farage also pledged to help spread the digital courses of the Christian college in the UK. He stated such groups were “key to resistance”, noting: “I mean this. I’ll assist attract vast numbers of youth to your online courses. I pledge this now and I will follow through.”

The college, a religious educational establishment, offers free courses. Its website states: “Comprehensive learning is vital for well-being and to maintain the benefits of freedom. It offers these beautiful courses for free to all who wish to learn.”
